Researching in the Grove (DRMA)
Significance of Research
There will be times where the writing staff and game will send out some very interesting off meta (Custom Plot Kit) Mechanics and Modules where solutions rely heavily on the Leading Characters to dive into the rabbit hole so to speak and research mutations of antagonists, a cure or a method of counteracting these mechanics.
Research is an inherit mechanic that is up to the chapter to develop and flesh out. This is how we are handing Research at DRMA.
Process & REquirements
Requires 30 minutes of roleplay.
(Cool Down 4 Hours or Next 12s, whichever longer)
A Leading Character can ask 3 Yes/No Questions related to the main research topic at hand.
Any Additional Leading Character can not only contributing their lores into the pool, but ask an additional 3 Yes/No Questions related to the research.
If the Leading Character does not have Any Level of Education, they can ask 1 Question with access of the lores on the team.
If you are using items, only plot cards will be expended during research.
Rules of Research
A player (or group of players) can come up to ops to submit their questions to the Experience Designer. Obviously because of availability, we will try to make sure you get your answers that same event, however some courtesy rules:
- Do not start a Research challenge Sunday Morning. It is very hectic and there is enough going on in the morning that we cannot guarantee you getting your answers before the event is done.
- Questions asked must be related to the research at hand. Please don’t try to sneak in a non-related question as that can definitely throw off the content we are trying to present.
- If this research is regarding a specific plot, please make a big note of that cause then we would have to look into the plot kit for that and could take a bit.
topics we cannot do
At Dystopia Rising Massachusetts, there are certain topics we have no jurisdiction to cover:
- Mortis Amaranthine via Beyond Death. While Gravemind and Infection (To an extent) are concepts and topics we can dive into. This specific content is behind National Access, which is something we need permission to run and content we as a local chapter cannot address.
