Updated: 4/16/25
The moment we’ve been waiting for has arrived!
This coming Tuesday 4/15 we will be completing the transition from the 3.0 database to the DR: Live database.
During this time you may not be able to use the databases, or you may receive maintenance or error messages when trying to access— and we have all been asked to avoid inputting any changes during this period.
Though the process is only expected to take a few hours, to prevent any issues please plan to not access either database for the full day- or until an announcement has been made that the database transition is complete.
What Does This Mean?
Your primary/original 3 3.0 character slots (currently showing as Active
and would give a migration flag when selected) will be migrated into the DR: Live database; where they will be automatically set as Staged
.
The stats, skills, lores, deaths, strains, and faith of your 3.0 characters will be wiped.
We will retain (for a time) access to view your 3.0 XP and attendance records and inventory.
Infection losses and gains on your characters from DR: Live events will transfer automatically.
Society Memberships will also transfer automatically; any that don’t or have fallen off your sheet can be updated (just let our Logi team know and we can make the changes).
Once the database transition is complete, you will have access in the DR:L database to edit your 3 OG character slots. These are the character slots that we will be using moving forward; and will require you to rebuild them with DR:L skills and stats.
Current Experimental Characters
will be deleted from the DR:L database on April 29th.
Once that deletion phase is done; you will still have 12 total Character slots available: 3 Active
characters; and 9 that you can freely use for test builds and experimenting with growth plans (these 9 test slots will never be checked into events or printed).
What Do I Need to do?
Before Tuesday April 15
Save any backups you would like of your 3.0 builds. You can do so by taking screenshots or saving a hard copy of your sheet in the 3.0 database.
Before Tuesday April 29
(or before Thursday 4/17 if attending our April event)
Rebuild your newly Staged
OG characters in the DR:L database. These character slots will have your available build pool automatically calculated, including the base 50 starting build.
You can do this by manually adding the skills and stats you’d like.
Or you can copy your
experimental
characters’ build; by using the Copy Build function.
Once you’ve finalized updating your OG character slot, set it to Active
.
This step is extremely important. Skipping this step will prevent you from checking in those characters (so they won’t receive build).
Any characters already checked in for our upcoming April event do not need to be checked in again; but failure to set them as
Active
before 4/17 (when sheets are printed) will prevent us from printing them.
Please Note: Once you set your character to
Active
you won’t be able to set them back toStaged
(for self editing). So double check that everything is correct before setting your character sheet toActive.
Below are screenshots of how to make these updates
This is what your character list, currently looks like (pre database transition)
The top 3 characters, marked `Active are what’s referred to above as “OG characters”. These OG character slots are what will be updated and set to Staged during the database transition.
Once the Database transition is complete, your OG characters (the original 3.0 character placeholders) will be automatically set to Staged. They will appear in your character list like this. These OG characters are what will need to be edited by Players and set to Active.
To Copy Build selections from your Experimental Character to an OG Character Slot:
Select the Experimental character version from the list, to open the character builder > Find the Copy Build To function towards the top > Click on the dropdown menu and select the corresponding Character/slot from the options in the list > Click Execute.
Ready to Set Characters to Active
Once you’re finished updating your permanent characters you’ll need to set them to Active. To do so click on Manage in the menu on the left (above where your characters are listed).
You’ll find your characters under the Staged Section (below Active). Click directly on Actions in the bottom right corner of each character. This will open a menu of options.
In the actions menu > Click on Activate.
This will immediately go through once you select Activate.
Once Activated, your character will automatically be moved from the Staged section to the Active Section.
Outlined DR:L Transition Schedule
For reference, below is the full transition plan from Gloria (our developer/database maven).
Access to the database will be temporarily severed.
Juno will enter maintenance mode.
3.0 DB will silently error.
Estimated Downtime: 2 Hours
The following will happen to all 3.0 characters:
They will be migrated to DR:Live
They will have staged designations.
Stats, skills, lores, deaths, strains, faith will be wiped. If players need to make a backup of their 3.0 builds, they should do so at this point by taking screenshots or hard copy.
XP and attendance records will remain intact.
Inventory, 3.0 & Live, will remain intact.
Infection loss from DR:Live events will transfer automatically.
Society membership will transfer automatically.
Upon completion:
Database access will be restored.
Juno will be fully operational.
3.0 database will not be able to access any characters. Lockboxes are the only part guaranteed to work correctly.
Player Instructions:
Before the next game, players will need to:
Rebuild their staged characters. This can be done by hand or copying experimental characters’ build.
Activate characters they want to check in. Extremely Important: Skipping this step will prevent characters from performing future check-ins. Note: Regular players can self activate. Employees and Guides with New Player Guide privilege can Activate characters on behalf of the players.
APRIL 29th, 2025
Experimental characters will be deleted from the database. Each player has 12 Staged slots. These are functionally equivalent to Experimental slots.
MAY 13th, 2025
Dystopiarisingnetwork.com will cease to function. Access to DR 3.0 will be permanently severed.
